Thai PM congratulates "Trump" on winning US presidential election

BANGKOK, November 9 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has congratulated Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election on November 8, stressing that Thailand's foreign policy remains intact. The prime minister said on Wednesday that Thailand accepts and welcomes whoever becomes the new US president because it is the electoral choice of the majority of American voters. "Thailand's foreign policy remains unchanged, under which balance and maximum national interest are upheld. The United States and Thailand have had sound relations for more than 180 years under Bangkok's pro-active foreign policy", the Thai prime minister maintained. Meanwhile, the Thai premier pointed out that a fluctuation on stock markets during a US presidential election is a normal circumstance and it could be caused by either domestic factors or the global situation. The prime minister suggested that the most important thing is to create confidence among the public and build mutual trust and stability, while investors need to have sufficient information for their decision makings and always explore business opportunities in any circumstance.
