Thai PM insists on train services development

BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has reiterated that her government plans to upgrade train services to further develop people’s livelihood nationwide. Speaking during her weekly TV and radio programme on Saturday morning, Yingluck said her meeting with concerned authorities aboard a train on August 8 came to the conclusion that nationwide train services should be further improved, as part of her government's plan to invest over two trillion baht to develop infrastructure nationwide. Yingluck acknowledged that her trip on Thursday also enabled her to understand real problems and to seek for their solutions. The prime minister noted that her government is considering the so-called "Red Route" mass rail transit system, linking Bang Sue (บางซื่อ) area in Bangkok with Rangsit in neighbouring Pathum Thani (ปทุมธานี) Province, as the model for other similar mass rail transit systems in the country, designed for improving urban communication and easing traffic congestion in the capital and outlying areas.(TNA)
