Thai PM surveys good prices
BANGKOK, May 7 (TNA) – Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said Monday high prices of some goods correspond to market mechanism.
But she noted, however, that prices of certain goods are also cheaper than before while prices of many other goods also tend to drop, particularly seasonal products that were affected by the mega-flood last year, since their productions are back to normal.
The Thai premier made the remarks after visiting Pichai fresh market in Nonthaburi province’s Pak Kret district to survey good prices, including egg and pork prices.
Yingluck said egg prices increase in according to the market mechanism, noting that soaring temperature has killed many egg-laying chickens, leading to a reduction of egg supply.
She added that the same goes for pork price.
The prime minister, meanwhile, promised to freeze the price of cooking gas and ordered the Commerce Ministry to arrange a market to sell consumer products at discount prices to help relieve people financial burden. (TNA)
