Thai Premier's successful visit welcomed

Manama, Apr. 26 Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Assistant Undersecretary for Arab & Afro-Asian Affairs and Organizations, Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa bin Daij Al Khalifa, today met with Krerkpan Roekchamnong - Director General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the friendly Kingdom of Thailand. The two sides hailed the official visit paid by Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha to the Kingdom of Bahrain on April 24-25, 2017, at the invitation of HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. Where both sides affirmed the importance of further reinforcing bilateral multi-field cooperation between the two friendly countries and looked forward to the 3rd meeting of the Joint Bahrain-Thai Supreme Committee, set to be held in Manama in 2017. Shaikha Rana also thanked the Kingdom of Thailand for its support for the nomination of the Kingdom of Bahraini to occupy a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security council for the period 2026-2027. The two sides also stressed the need to underpin GCC-ASEAN cooperation and implement what was agreed by the leaders: consolidation of GCC-ASEAN cooperation, holding the 1st GCC-ASEAN Meeting in 2017 and furthering cooperation under UN umbrella. Also attending the meeting were Ambassador Chayapan Bamrungphong of the Kingdom of Thailand to Bahrain and Soradjak Puranasamriddhi, Director of Middle East Division at the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand.
