Thai tourism reaches the peak in Oct
BANGKOK, Nov 20 (TNA) – Thailand recorded the highest number of foreign tourists in Oct at 2.72 million, up 20.92 per cent year-on-year, according to the official monthly report.
Pongpanu Svearundra, Permanent Secretary of Ministry Of Tourism and Sports revealed October 2017 tourism report that tourists from East Asia account for the highest number or 1.8 million people.
Looking into each country, top ten of tourist arrivals came from China, followed by Malaysia, Laos, South Korea, India, Japan, Russia, Cambodia, the US and the UK respectively.
The kingdom earned an income of 142 billion baht in October, up 24.38 per cent year-on-year.
From Jan to Oct 2017, Thailand recorded 25.82 million in number of foreign tourists or a growth of 6.69 per cent from the same period last year. The country earned 1.4 trillion baht in revenue in total, up 9.31 per cent year-on-year.
The permanent secretary said Thai tourism growth was in line with the world tourism situation, which expanded 6.6 per cent in the first ten month of this year with 901 million global travellers. (TNA)
