Thai troops assist people affected by political protest
BANGKOK, December 6 (TNA) - Soldiers have assisted people in communities affected by domestic political demonstrations, as ordered by Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha.
The soldiers on Friday morning reached Nang Loeng and Wang Daeng communities, where they inquired about impacts on local dwellers' health and property, while military doctors provided the locals with free medical services.
The soldiers then reported that their surveys, starting from December 4, found that 170 people in Nang Loeng and Wat Sommanat communities were affected.
Apart from the surveys and medical services, the soldiers have also helped repair damaged property and cleaned the affected communities.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Health has adjusted its rescue plan for victims of demonstrations, after nearly 300 people were injured and ill in recent incidents relating to domestic political demonstrations.
Permanent Secretary for Public Health Dr. Narong Sahametapat told reporters that health officials have now designed more systematic areas for patient referrals and his ministry's rescue workers have been deployed at 40 locations, where they can reach injured people, if any, within 90 minutes. (TNA)
