Thai-Vietnamese Cabinet meeting concluded successfully

HANOI, October 27 (TNA) - The 2nd Thai-Vietnamese Cabinet meeting, held in Hanoi, Vietnam's capital, on Saturday concluded successfully, with key agreements. Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her Vietnamese couterpart Nguyen Tan Dung proclaimed the success of the 2nd Thai-Vietnamese Cabinet retreat at a joint press conference, after both government leaders witnessed the signing of three agreements between Bangkok and Hanoi at the end of the joint Cabinet meeting. According to both leaders, the three accords cover bilateral cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam in all areas, including rice and rubber trade and the setting up the Thai-Vietnamese Business Council. The Thai prime minister told the press conference that Vietnam agreed to participate in a tripartite meeting on rubber to be hosted by Thailand in December 2012 and to support Thailand's roles in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and in the promotion of a peaceful solution to unsettled territorial issues in the South China Sea. Bangkok and Hanoi also agreed to cooperate on sustainable management of the Mekong River, expanded cross-border transportation links and anti-transnational crime in all forms; while setting a joint target to raise bilateral trade and investment to reach 18 billion US dollars by 2015, mainly through promoting joint business projects between the public and private sectors of both countries. Premier Yingluck and her Cabinet members are scheduled to return to Thailand Saturday evening.(TNA)
