Thailand bakes in hot weather

BANGKOK, April 29 (TNA) – Thailand’s Meteorological Department announced on Sunday that temperatures in the North and Northeast had dropped slightly following scattered showers in the past two days. However, hot weather would continue in the Central and Western regions with temperatures ranging between 38-40 degrees Celsius, it said. Meanwhile, the temperature in Bangkok was expected at approximately 39 degrees Celsius on Sunday, and could rise up to 40 degrees Celsius if there was no rainfall or heavy wind, the weather agency added. In other reports, more than 10 village houses in a district of the northern province of Lampang were damaged while electricity was cut off following heavy rainfall and hailstorms on Saturday night. Authorities said electricians in Mae Tha district were repairing electric wires on Sunday after four electricity poles were knocked down during the bad weather, which lasted for several hours. More than 10 houses in two villages of the district were damaged as roofs were blown away, they said. (TNA)
