Thailand Biennale 2020 to be held in Korat
BANGKOK, May 8 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Culture, through its Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC), will organize the 2nd Thailand Biennale in the northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima Province during late December 2020-March 2021.
OCAC chief Wimolluck Chuchat told journalists on May 7 that the recent meeting of the organizing committee of the "Thailand Biennale, Korat 2020", chaired by Nakhon Ratchasima Governor Wichien Chantharanotha, has resolved to organize the country's 2nd international contemporary art event, after the first one, held last year in the southern resort Krabi Province, has been proclaimed satisfactorily successful.
Wimolluck said that the Thailand Biennale, Korat 2020 will be opened during December 16-20, 2020 and will be closed on March 31, 2021, with its main venues set in Muang, Pak Chong and Pimai Districts of Nakhon Ratchasima, or Korat.
For the mascot of the Thailand Biennale, Korat 2020, the OCAC chief revealed that a national artist for sculpture has been asked to produce it to show the identity of the Thai contemporary art and Nakhon Ratchasima Province.
Besides, the organizing committee will produce the so-called "KORAT ART MAP" to be included in an application on people's smart phones to provide information on the sites of the venues and other necessary details to facilitate international visitors to the "Thailand Biennale, Korat 2020".
"Information on selected and outstanding Thai artists will also be included in the application comprehensively, while Korat's sculptural masterpieces may also be produced and permanently placed at the venues to also become new provincial tourist sites to draw in international visitors in the future.
