Thailand, Cambodia enhances cooperation in border issues

SA KAEO, Oct 31 (TNA) - Acting Commissioner of Immigration Bureau Pol Maj Gen Surachet Hakpan discussed cooperation in border and security issues with Cambodian director-general of the General Immigration Department Gen Kirth Chantharith during his visit to Thai border province of Sa Kaeo on Wednesday. Pol Maj Gen Surachet met his Cambodian counterpart at the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge, the Klong Luek border checkpoint. They went to attend the meeting with Sa Kaeo immigration chief and senior officials at the Indochina Hotel to boost relation. The two sides discussed security policies and cooperation in crackdown on transnational crime. Pol Maj Gen Surachet said the government ordered the Immigration Bureau to investigate into a complaint on bribery by traders at the Rong Kluea border market and to arrest foreigners, who overstay their visas. The police will also continue to crack down on counterfeit goods at the border market, he said. (TNA)
