Thailand celebrates 236 years of Rattanakosin period
BANGKOK, April 20 (TNA) – The Culture Ministry will hold the cultural events to mark the 236th anniversary of Rattanokosin era from April 21-25.
Public members are invited to wear Thai clothing to attend the festival, entitled “the 236th Year of Rattanakosin City under Royal Benevoence.”
The five-day activities will be held at many zones in Bangkok’s historic part, called Rattanakosin Island.
Cultural shows will be held at the national theater and ancient Thai food and traditional costume for rent will be available at the national museum.
Local products and sourvenirs from Bangkok old communities will be sold at Santi Chaiprakarn Park while Laan Khon Muang plaza at the city hall will see shops, selling products from four regions and fashion show of Thai textile.
Moreover, Scala theater will screen the selected best movies in the reign of the His Majesty late King Bhumibol free of charge.
The highlight of the opening ceremony will be 11 processions, telling the story of the Rattanakosin period under the theme “The glory of Rattanakosin."
The parade will start at Laan Plabpla Maha Chedsada Bodin, passing Ratchadamnoen Klang Road to Sanam Luang and ends at the national theater. MCOT HD channel will broadcast live the opening ceremony, starting from 6.15 pm on April 21. (TNA)
