Thailand celebrates World Soil Day 2013

BANGKOK, December 5 (TNA) - Thailand celebrated the World Soil Day this year, which coincides with the 86th birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who is renowned for his work on soil conservation. The International Union of Soil Sciences has designated the World Soil day on December 5 to honor the King for his promotion of soil science and soil resources conservation. On this occasion, the Department of Land Development has organized an event marking the importance of soil to the human commonwealth through its contribution to food, water and energy security. An exhibition dedicated to His Majesty’s royal initiatives has also been set up to underline the importance of soil for human survival and to promote sustainable management of natural resources. (TNA)
