Thailand expands southern border pass to serve growing trade
SONGKHLA, February 1 (TNA) - Thailand’s Customs Department is speeding up the expansion of its Sadao border pass in the southern Songkhla Province to serve growing trade and communications with neighbouring countries.
Sadao District Chief Chamlong Kraidit said Wednesday that the Sadao border pass has posted the highest border trade value for Thailand so far and it is being expanded, thanks to cooperation from owners of adjacent land plots.
According to the Sadao district chief, Thailand's export and import values through Sadao have normally amounted to 270 billion baht annually and the expanded border pass will, in particular, facilitate businesses across the frontier, as well as cross-border trips of Thai, Malaysian and Singaporean traders and travellers.
