Thailand to have dual rail tracks nationwide

BANGKOK, September 14 (TNA) - The Thai government, through the Ministry of Transport, is determined to construct dual rail tracks nationwide with the total distance of about 2,900 kilometres as earlier planned. Thai Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt confirmed the project on Saturday (Sept 14), acknowledging that it will bring prosperity to the country in the future. Chadchart told journalists that the initiative is one of several mega-infrastructure development projects, mostly transportation, in which the Thai government is seeking loans, totally about 2.2 trillion baht, to finance. According to the minister, the bill to enable the Thai government to seek the 2.2 trillion baht loans, mostly from local financial institutes, will be submitted for a House deliberation next week.
