Thailand hit with sizzling weather

BANGKOK, April 25 (TNA) -- Sizzling heat hits many provinces in upper Thailand as temperatures have risen up to over 37 degree Celsius. To ease the extreme weather and subsequent drought, army personnel distributed large water tanks for public use in Phichit’s Taphan Hin district where water sources have depleted. The local administration and water work authority will fill up the tanks with water for residents of rural villagers in this relief effort. Main water sources of the province have dried up due to the chronic drought problem. In Maha Sarakham province, an irrigation reservoir has been a hot spot for cooling-off activities. Families have picnicked at the reservoir for drinking, swimming and enjoying cool breeze. Cattle farmers in Nong Khai are forced to keep their animals cool as the mercury rose to 38 degree Celsius. Water buffaloes are more frequently taken to take a dip in water. Thailand is experiencing hot weather with maximum temperature rising up to 39-40 degrees Celsius in some period. (TNA)
