Thailand to host ITU Telecom World 2013 fair Nov 19-22

BANGKOK, November 16 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom World 2013 fair at the Impact Trade and Exhibition Centre in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of Bangkok from November 19-22, 2013, which is expected to draw more than 20,000 international visitors, including foreign government leaders and business operators. Thai Information and Communication Technology Minister Group Captain Anudith Nakornthap told the public of the four-day event during the weekly TV and radio programme of Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Saturday morning. Anudith said the exhibition, starting next Tuesday, will be a platform for government officials and the private sector to exchange information on the ICT industry and for displaying ICT innovations. Organised jointly by three Thai government units, including the ICT Ministry, the minister acknowledged, the four-day exhibition will attract more foreign business operators to invest in Thailand and more international tourists to visit the Kingdom. According to the ICT minister, Thai people are now able to have Internet access of more than 37 per cent out of the country's total area and it is projected that the public access to Internet should increase to over 50 per cent by the end of this year.
