Thailand to host two international tourism fairs

BANGKOK, May 23 (TNA) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will co-host the United Nations World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) "World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism" and Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2018. The fourth edition of UNWTO World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism is scheduled on May 30 to June 1. The forum will provide an academic discussion and will boost Thailand’s gastronomy tourism and promote the country’s food. Thailand is Asia’s first country, selected to host the event. Besides knowledge exchange with food professionals, there will be workshops to survey famous food shops in Bangkok’s eight communities. Thailand expects to earn 300 billion baht from gastronomy tourism or about 20 per cent of the whole tourism income. The other mega event is Thailand Travel Mart Plus Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Subregion 2018. It will be held at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya, Chonburi from June 13-15. The travel trade show will offer tourism goods and service from international sellers. B2Bbusiness matching sessions will be organized as Thailand targets to earn three trillion baht in tourism revenue this year. (TNA)
