Thailand To Learn Japanese Technology On Community-Based Wastewater Treatment
BANGKOK, April 19 (TNA) - The Wastewater Management Authority of Thailand (WMA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have sealed an agreement on technological transfer, with Thai authorities expecting it to result in the Kingdom's systematic development of environmentally-friendly wastewater treatment over the next five years.
The WMA signed the agreement with JICA and the drainage bureau of Japan's Saitama prefecture today, under which Japan will transfer wastewater treatment technology to local administrative organizations in Thailand for three years, from 2012-2015.
WMA Chief Pairote Satayasansakul said that Japan's technological transfer applied in Saitama will have no impact on people and the environment and he expects the technological transfer will, therefore, be useful for wastewater treatment and environmental rehabilitation in Thailand.
According to the WMA chief, the Japanese technological transfer will begin in the tambon Bang Sareh municipality of Si Racha district in Thailand's eastern resort Chon Buri province and will then be expanded to other 101 wastewater treatment plants nationwide. (TNA)
