Thailand observes Chakri Day

BANGKOK, April 6 (TNA) - Thailand observes Chakri Day on every April 6 to commemorate and honour late King Rama I the Great, or King Phra Bhuddayodfa Chulalok, who founded the present Chakri Dynasty in 1782 and was the first monarch of the reigning Thai dynasty. On Saturday morning, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra led her Cabinet members to worship late King Rama I the Great at his statue situated at the Phra Bhuddayodfa Bridge, which spans over the Chao Phraya River to link Bangkok and Thonburi sides of the Thai capital. Representatives of public and private agencies, as well as the Thai Parliament and independent bodies also participated in the ceremony, annually organized to also express gratefulness by all Thais to late King Rama I the Great, who also founded Bangkok.
