Thailand to provide additional 50,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots

BANGKOK, October 1 (TNA) – Thai Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Ministry is collaborating with Advance Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), the country’s largest mobile-phone operator, in expanding free Wi-Fi to 50,000 hotspots nationwide. ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap told reporters Monday his ministry has carried out the ICT Free Wi-Fi project with the help of the AIS in order to give the people an access to free Wi-Fi nationwide. Minister Anudith said these hot spots, covering places such as, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, hospital, along with schools and colleges, would provide Thais with better access to internet information, and help develop the country's basic communications infrastructure as well as boosting Thailand's communications industry.
