Thais, Myanmars celebrate Songkran in Ranong

RANONG, THAILAND, April 13 (TNA) – People from Thailand and Myanmar Saturday jointly cerebrated Songkran festival or water splashing festival here in a fun and lively atmosphere. Permanent Secretary-General of Ranong Municipal Office Pairat Ampawanon said the province saw vigorous celebrations as some 20,000 Myanmar people from Kor Song province had crossed the border to join in with the festival. Pairat said local authorities had beef up security to ensure that revelers did not carry weapons or consume alcohol. More CCTVs had also been installed to ensure safety for both Thais and foreigners during the celebrations, he added. (TNA)
