Third Intangible Cultural Heritage Forum on Wednesday

Manama, Sep.28 (BNA): The Intangible Cultural Heritage Forum, which will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, at the Bahrain National The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) will organise the event which opens 10:00am and runs until 3:00pm. Experts and specialists will attend the third installment which highlights four elements of intangible heritage: Palm Trees, Pottery, Gold & Pearling. Assistant Undersecretary for Agricutlure and Marine Resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Dr Abdulaziz Mohammed Abdulkarim will will address the first session which focuses on palm-trees. BACA Handicrafts director Shooq Al Alawi and other craftsmen will participate in the second session and highlight the importance of pottery in Bahrain’s intangible heritage. The third session will focus on the history of goldsmithing in the Kingdom of Bahrain, while the fourth session will shed light on pearling which represented the pillar of Bahrain’s economy in the XIX and early XX centuries.
