Three suspects in rotten shipment case referred to court

Manama, Jan. 28 (BNA): Three people suspected of importing a shipment weighing about 25 tonnes of spoiled chicken will stand trial. The Public Prosecution charged them with importing the rotten shipment and referred them to the Criminal Court, Chief Prosecutor for Ministries and Governmental Directorates, Advocate General Mamdouh Al-Muawda said. The shipment which was blocked by the Agricultural Affairs and Maritime Resources was confiscated by the Public Prosecution on suspicion of being unfit for human consumption. The Public Prosecution heard the witnesses’ testimonies and questioned the owner of the commercial registration licence who admitted importing the suspected shipment. He confessed he had agreed with two other suspects to import the shipment under his own commercial registration licence. Based on his confessions, the Public Prosecution questioned the two other suspects who admitted to importing the shipment at their own expense.
