Three Thai cities are among the world’s 20 best destinations

BANGKOK, Sept 29 (TNA) - Government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was pleased to know that Bangkok was voted to be the best global destination city in the latest survey by Mastercard in 2018. Bangkok was ranked 1st for the fifth time in six years and for the third consecutive year. Last year it welcomed 20.05 million visitors, each of whom stayed 4.7 nights and spent US$173 or about 5,500 baht a day on average. In the same survey, Phuket and Pattaya were ranked 12th and 18th respectively. Mastercard said Thailand was the only country with three cities among the 20 best global destinations because its good infrastructures and perfect combination of facilities for business and leisure trips.
