GRAND PRIZE GOES TO CEYLAN
Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia" has been awarded with the Grand Jury Prize at the 64th Cannes Film Festival. Ceylan received the award from prominent director Emir Kusturica. "Thank you for selecting my long and difficult movie one more time," he said to the festival, then candidly told the jury, "Screening it on the last day, I thought it would be too tiring for you." 

CHAMPION FENERBAHCE
Fenerbahce has become champion at the end of the Spor Toto Super League. The soccer club won the title for the 18th time in its history after beating Sivasspor 4-3. Trabzonspor ranked second after defeating Karabuk 4-0. 

1,686 BUILDINGS DAMAGED
The governor of the western province of Kutahya, Kenan Ciftci, has said that nearly 150 buildings should be evacuated immediately in the town of Simav, which was the epicenter of Thursday's earthquake with a magnitude of 5.9. He said that 1,686 buildings became uninhabitable being damaged seriously in the tremor.

Turkish Film Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan received the Grand Prix at the 64th Cannes Film Festival. Ceylan received the award for the film "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia".

Korean Hyundai has pushed the button for an investment in its factory in north-western province of Izmit. Hyundai will increase the capacity at the Izmit plant to 200,000.

Turkey's Fenerbahce Soccer Club became the champion in the Spor Toto Super League on Sunday. Fenerbahce won 17 of their last 18 games. They were not beaten at any home game during this season. No opponent could score a goal against Fenerbahce in any of their home game in 2011. Fenerbahce were 9 points behind the leader at one point but they made a come back. Fenerbahce scored 4 goals in their last game. Fenerbahce won its 18th championship and became the Turkish team with the most championships.

177 BUILDINGS IN SIMAV MUST BE URGENTLY DEMOLISHED, CICEK SAYS
Simav town of the western province of Kutahya was shaken with an earthquake on May 19. Evaluating the developments after the earthquake, Turkish State Minister and Deputy Premier Cemil Cicek said that there were 177 buildings in Simav that must be urgently demolished as they were damaged during the earthquake.

FOURTH AWARD IN CANNES
Nuri Bilge Ceylan has won the Grand Jury Prize in the Cannes Film Festival with his film "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia". Ceylan said that he did not expect to win the award since his film was screened on the last day of the festival. Ceylan won the same prize in 2003 with his film "Distant". He was awarded with the Best Director Award in 2006 and 2008 with his films "Climates" and "Three Monkeys". 

PRODUCTION OF CIRIT BEGINS
Laser-guided missile Cirit has passed all tests. Roketsan plans to begin production of the missiles with a range of 8 km this year.

Most intellectuals point to Turkey as the country to take shelter in during a civil war in their respective countries. Ankara tops the list as a regional super power.

TRT 6 TO BROADCAST AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS IN KURDISH
State-run TRT 6 TV channel will begin broadcasting agricultural education programs in the Kurdish language. Around 200 educational programs will be shown at various times during the year.
