AMBUSH ON CONVOY
Near Ilgaz mountain, fire was opened with long-ranged weapons on police car escorting the convoy of officials of Justice & Development (AK) Party and Prime Ministry which was returning to Ankara from the northern province of Kastamonu where Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held his party's election rally. Police officers in the convoy responded the fire of terrorists. Police car, which was raked by terrorists, burned when its fuel tank caught fire. Police officer Recep Sahin, who had one child, was killed, while another police officer Metin Kus was wounded in the attack.
FILTER ON WAY FOR INTERNET
Under the rule of "safe use of internet" which will take effect in August, users will select one of the four internet filters. Officials said that the target was to protect children and families from harmful content of internet.
THE ISTANBUL EDITION
The official opening was made for Istanbul's new luxury hotel The Istanbul Edition. Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay cut the ribbon in the opening ceremony of the hotel.

HEINOUS AMBUSH
A Justice & Development (AK) Party bus was returning to Ankara from an election rally in the northern province of Kastamonu. The bus was empty when some assailants opened fire on the police vehicle which was escorting it. Assailants then hurled hand grenade on the police vehicle, killing a police officer named Recep Sahin and wounding the other police officer in the car. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan proceeded to Amasya from Kastamonu by helicopter as the bus was en route to Ankara. The teams in the convoy also opened fire on terrorists, whereas military units were transferred to the area. Soldiers who tracked down terrorists in a forested area had a hot clash with terrorists two hours after the ambush. In the meantime, intelligence units had got a tip-off that a group of PKK terrorists comprised of 25 people were sent to Amasya and Kastamonu vicinity, and Prime Minister Erdogan was informed about the tip-off.
TURKCELL CEO IN LEAGUE OF GIANTS
The Wall Street Journal, an influential newspaper of the business world, published a list comprised of 25 people who shed light and lead technology in Europe. Turkcell's CEO Sureyya Ciliv also took his place in the list.

VICTORY OF COMMON SENSE
French Senate rejected a draft law penalizing the denial of Armenian allegations on the incidents of 1915. Firstly, a motion --which envisages the rejection of the draft law-- was voted in the general assembly of the Senate. Common sense won in the voting, and the motion was adopted with 196 votes against 74. Thus, the draft law dropped from the agenda without even being voted.

Security Department's Intelligence Unit made a warning 10 days ago that PKK terrorists leaked into Black Sea region and took shelter in mountains and forests. The Unit also deciphered the new action plan of PKK and made another warning two weeks ago.

ARMED ATTACK ON CONVOY, ONE POLICE OFFICER DEAD
Terrorists attacked a convoy including a bus belonging to the Prime Ministry with long-range guns and bombs when the convoy was returning from an election rally in the northern province of Kastamonu. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan proceeded to Amasya from Kastamonu by helicopter. The Prime Ministry bus and his advisers were travelling on the highway when terrorists laid an ambush on the foot of Ilgaz Mountain near Cankiri. Terrorists first hurled a hand grenade on the police vehicle escorting the bus, then opened fire on the convoy.
The police vehicle was set on fire; police officer Recep Sahin died. Prime Ministry bodyguards responded to terrorists with their guns in the forested area. Police and army have launched a wide-scale operation to arrest terrorists who were believed to be PKK members.
PUNISHMENT TO SORROWFUL MOTHER
Sinem Yalcin, a graduate of Vienna University, died as Faruk Kalkavan hit her when he was driving his SUV from the emergency lane in January 2008. Kalkavan was found 100 percent guilty, he served 110 days in prison and he was released from prison. When he was sentenced to five and a half years in prison, he ran away to the United States.
Sinem's mother Nazmiye could not accept Kalkavan's release from prison, and applied to the Justice Ministry as the last remedy. However, then deputy undersecretary, now Justice Minister Ahmet Kahraman filed a lawsuit against Nazmiye Yalcin on charges of insult and slander. Nazmiye Yalcin was sentenced to one year in prison.

REJECTION TO LAW ON 1915 ALLEGATIONS
The draft law, which penalizes the denial of Armenian allegations on the incidents of 1915, was rejected with 196 votes of 290 senators in French Senate. Meanwhile, Justice Ministry is launching a new initiative.

The Security Department set a note to 81 governor's offices in Turkey on May 2, warning them that "the terrorist organization PKK might stage attacks on election rallies." Two days later, an ambush was laid on Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's convoy when it was returning from the northern province of Kastamonu. Erdogan was not in the convoy, however one police officer was killed in the ambush.
Police have been thinking that a PKK group supported by Marxist-Leninist TIKKO organization might have been responsible for the ambush as the same group staged two more attacks in the same area in a month.

FIRST LADIES ON BOSPHORUS
The Global Women's Summit will begin on Thursday. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's spouse Emine Erdogan will host the summit which will be attended by spouses of many leaders, politicians and businesswomen. Malaysian prime minister's wife Datin Mansor was the first guest to arrive in Istanbul. Emine Erdogan and Malaysian delegation took a photograph on the Bosphorus.
TUNNEL ISTANBUL ALMOST COMPLETED
Five-kilometer tunnel that will carry Istanbul Strait's (Bosphorus) water to Halic (Golden Horn) has been completed. When Turkey is discussing the crazy project of Prime Minister Erdogan, Black Sea will be linked to the Sea of Marmara for a second time with the water tunnel that will reinvigorate Halic. Thanks to this project, one can even have the chance to raft on the Kagithane Brook.

THOSE WHO WANT TO OVERSHADOW ELECTIONS TAKE ACTION
Dark hands have pressed the button to cause a chaos before general elections in Turkey. Assailants opened fire on the police escort in Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's convoy after an election rally in the northern province of Kastamonu. Police officer Recep Sahin died, other police officer Metin Kus was wounded.
Erdogan said, "these cowardly people think that they can get a result by these methods." Politicians also reacted strongly to the ambush. Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the chairman of the Republican People's Party (CHP), called Erdogan to say that he was sorry to hear what had happened.
CITIZENS LIVING ABROAD CANNOT CAST VOTES UNLESS THEY EXTEND PASSPORT VALIDITIES
Turkish citizens living abroad can start casting votes for general elections on May 10 for the June 12th general elections. Almost 2,600,000 Turkish citizens residing abroad will have to travel for thousands of kilometers as the Higher Election Board (YSK) do not let them cast votes at consulates. Moreover, these citizens will have to renew their Turkish passports if they are no more valid, and cast their votes at customs gates.

OIL FOUND IN 57 WELLS
Oil and natural gas were found nearly half of 205 wells which were drilled across Turkey last year. Oil was found in 57 wells, natural gas in 47 wells and both oil and natural gas in one well in which 323,055 drilling were made. Works are under way in 29 wells too.
WORLD'S MOST DISTINGUISHED MUHTAR
Atlantic Council presented "distinguished business leadership award" to Coca Cola's CEO Muhtar Kent. Famous host Charlie Rose, who presented the award to Kent, said, "he has a secret formula like Coca Cola has. His secret formula is to work hard."
