Manama, Apr. 7(BNA): The University of Bahrain (UoB) ranked first in Bahrain and 213 in the world on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. The 2019 Times Higher Education World University Rankings was announced at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings by Times Higher Education (THE) magazine which selects the top 500 universities in the world. UoB President Dr. Riyadh Youssef Hamza extended deepest thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the Government for their outstanding support to the university.
He also expressed thanks to the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training and the UoB board of trustees for their follow-up and support. "The University of Bahrain, which ranks first in the Kingdom, has thus become a competitor to reckon with along with other renowned universities in the region and the world", he said.
The University of Bahrain was ranked a few months ago among the top 5%, ranking 411 out of more than 25,000 universities in the world in the metric of Employer Reputation. Bahrain’s largest public university was presented with a citation by the QS (QS World University Rankings) regional director for the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia. The 2018 report ranked the University of Bahrain (UoB) first on the national level and 25th in Arab region, out of more than 1000 universities, thus jumping by 17 spots in less than three years.
