TRA warns subscribers against scammers

Manama, Sept. 12 (BNA): The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said it was tipped that scammers may be approaching a number of subscribers through WhatsApp and mobile calls claiming themselves as TRA staff who are purportedly handing out cash prizes. The TRA advised consumers to refrain from engaging with these scammers and to report all suspicious communication immediately to the Ministry of Interior (MoI)’s General Directorate of Anti-Corruption & Economic & Electronic Security. TRA also advised consumers to block such numbers on WhatsApp to limit unwanted calls. The TRA also emphasized that it does not dole out any cash prizes nor use WhatsApp as an means of official communication.
