Train goes off rail in Thai North
BANGKOK, August 23 (TNA) - A Chiang Mai-Bangkok speed train derailed in Thailand’s northern Lampang province on Friday, but no one was injured from the incident.
The train derailment, taking place between Khun Tan and Mae Tan Noi stations in Lampang's Hang Chat district, was caused by a wheel of one of the bogies veering off the track.
All train services on northern routes, both Bangkok's outbound and inbound ones, have been temporarily suspended consequently, to and from the Khun Tan station, pending workers' removal of the derailed train, with dozens of passengers reportedly stranded.
A preliminary investigation showed that the train derailment was caused by a kink of the section of the northern rail. (TNA)
