Tunisia keen to view Iranian films at Carthage festival

TEHRAN,Sept.2(MNA) -- The Tunisian culture minister has call on Iranian cineastes to participate in the 24th Carthage Film Festival, which will take place in Tunis in November. Mehdi Mabrouk made the appeal during a meeting with Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) Director Shafi Aqamohammadian in Tunis last week, DEFC announced in press released on Saturday. Aqamohammadian is a jury member of the International Amateur Film Festival of Kelibia, which is currently underway in the city of Kelibia. Aqamohammadian handed the letter from Iran Cinema Organization Director Javad Shamaqdari to the minister during this meeting. In his letter, Shamaqdari announced readiness to collaborate with the newly established Tunisian National Center for Cinema and Image (CNCI) in developing cinematic productions, especially in holding educational programs. The minister warmly received Iran’s cooperation and asked Aqamohammadian to provide him with a list of Iranian filmmakers and cinema experts to attend the Carthage festival, which will be running from November 16 to 24. Organizers of the festival are determined to focus on the cinema of Asia, highlighting cinema of Iran, India and China, and participation of Iranian cineastes can be of great help, he added. In addition, he stressed that he is willing to make use of Iran’s invaluable experience in running the center and holding educational courses for interested Tunisians. Mabrouk also invited Iranian publishers to attend the International Book Fair of Tunis also opening in November.
