Turkey 8th in fiber internet
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 06.03.2011 - Turkey is on the 8th rank among G-20 countries in the aspect of internet penetration, according to February, 2011 report of International Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) Council.
Superonline, a Turkcell group company which invests in Turkey in fiber internet penetration, stated on Sunday that Turkey was included in the list of FTTH Council for the first time.
Superonline Director General Murat Erkan said that Superonline continued its investments in fiber optic infrastructure in 2010 to shape its own IP system.
In our activities on internet, we have reached over 22,500 kilometers of infrastructure in 73 cities, he said.
Superonline carried its fiber internet service to eight cities (Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, Bursa, Adana, Antalya and Gaziantep) in Turkey so far, said Erkan, adding that they would start to serve fiber internet in Mersin and Samsun cities soon.
The Fiber-to-the-Home Council is a non-profit organization established to help its members with planning, marketing, implementing and managing FTTH solutions.
