SECOND WAVE
As 26 people including Fenerbahce chairman Aziz Yildirim were detained in a match-fixing investigation, police took action again yesterday. In an operation conducted by the Istanbul Police, 22 more people including Trabzonspor football club's head Sadri Sener, deputy head Nevzat Sakar, former head Mahmut Ozgener and several other officials of the Turkish Football Federation, former executive of Ankaragucu Mumtaz Karakaya and footballer Serdar Kulbilge were detained. Police also asked for the statements of 18 people.
CHP DEPUTIES TAKE OATH
Representatives from Justice & Development (AK) Party and Republican People's Party (CHP) held a 4-hour meeting at the parliament yesterday and later released a joint declaration upon the approval of their party leaders. "We believe all political parties and their deputies should be present at the parliament," the declaration said. With badges saying "Independence belongs to the nation", CHP deputies then took the parliamentary oath. Only Isa Gok did not carry the badge. While CHP deputies took oath, AK Party deputies applauded.

FENERBAHCE TO COMPETE IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
In a meeting held on Monday, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) decided that the Spor Toto Super League would begin on August 5 as planned. According to the TFF, Fenerbahce and Besiktas would play on July 31 for the Super Cup. The TFF said that, until criminal charges were filed regarding match-fixing allegations, Fenerbahce and Trabzonspor would compete in the Champions League while Bursaspor, Besiktas and Gaziantepspor would compete in the UEFA Europa League.
ERDEMIR 47TH AMONG BIGGEST STEEL PRODUCERS OF WORLD
Five Turkish companies were listed among the biggest steel producers of the world by Metal Bulletin. Turkey's Erdemir was ranked 47th among the biggest steel producers of the world. Erdemir produced 7.1 million tonnes of steel.

In the second wave, police first knocked on Trabzonspor chairman Sadri Sener's door. A total of 22 people were detained in the operation and police said some of the detentions were to ask for information only. Football Federation's former head Mahmut Ozgener was among the detainees.

The oath-taking crisis ended and CHP deputies took oath as AK Party and CHP executives reached a consensus during the meeting they held yesterday. The joint declaration signed during the gathering said "political parties should be present at the parliament for the solution of problems".
