PROPOSALS TO NATO
Turkey sent two warships to Libya, and other two ships and a submarine set sail for Libya on Wednesday. Turkish government made proposals to NATO regarding operation to Libya. These proposals are: Turkey can carry out direct talks in regard to settlement of peace in Libya. Turkey can take an active role regarding sending humanitarian aid to Libya. A navy can serve to examine arms embargo. 

TEKIN: "I WILL NOT OPPOSE TO A CANDIDATE WEARING HEADSCARF"
The main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy chairman Gursel Tekin said that the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party could nominate women wearing headscarf in the upcoming elections. Tekin said that he would not oppose to a candidate wearing headscarf.

TURKEY TO SEND F-16 JETS ALSO
Turkey has sent four frigates, one submarine and one auxiliary ship to Libya to enforce an arms embargo on Libya. Turkey will also send six F-16 jets to a NATO base in Italy for the Libya operation. The Turkish Parliament will debate a motion on Turkey's contribution to NATO mission on Thursday.

ETHICS AGREEMENT AT CHP
More than 3,000 individuals have applied at Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) to become candidates at the June 12 elections. CHP requires every candidate to sign an "ethics agreement". The agreement encompasses certain articles such as "I will not run after personal interests but for the success of our team", "I will not collect any donations" and "I will defend the rights of my citizens".

SECOND LORRY FOR SUSURLUK
Turkey paves the way for re-trial process of one of its biggest scandals in its history. The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation upon confessions of former special force member Ayhan Carkin made to the Radikal daily newspaper. Carkin had earlier been convicted of the Susurluk scandal case. Carkin said, "I will explain everything if a committee is set up." The possibility of the prosecutor to call Carkin to testify is fairly high at the end of his/her investigation. Also, the lawyers of Susurluk case victims have lodged a complaint. Victims submitted the petition to prosecutor Hakan Karaali, and asked 128 people to be tried again including Mehmet Agar and Necdet Menzir.
On November 3, 1996, a Mercedes with a licence plate 06 AC 600 crashed into a lorry in Susurluk town of northwestern province of Balikesir, raising hopes for a confrontation with Turkey's deep state.
