MAJOR GENERAL TO AIR FORCES
New names were assessed at the summit of President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Acting Chief of General staff Gen. Necdet Ozel after resignation of Chief of General Staff Gen. Isik Kosaner and commanders.
The President said he would "not sign blindfolded" prior to the resignations. The same evening, a decision was made to appoint Hayri Kivrikoglu to Land Forces, Murat Birgel to Naval Forces, and Servet Yoruk to Gendarme Command.
The military opposed Lieutenant General Mehmet Erten for Air Forces as he did not have "field experience". Government also shared this view.
ROPE OF AL-ASAD IS IN TURKEY
Hama massacre of the Syrian army caused strong reaction to Bashar al-Asad. Commenting on the "military operation" strategy experts said "Turkey's support is the condition of intervention. Otherwise this is impossible."
Asked if there will be international intervention in Syria, experts said, "there will not be if Turkey does not want."

The number of people killed in two-day operations of Syrian soldiers exceeded 150. When the world is reacting to developments in Syria, President Abdullah Gul strongly reacted to the Syrian administration and called on the administration to end violence. Gul said, "welcoming the Ramadan with a more bloody atmosphere is not something that can be accepted and that can be condoned when the world is expecting radical reforms. The images have horrified all of us."
NEW VISION MESSAGE IN YAS
Eyes were on the Supreme Military Council (YAS) meeting after the chief of general staff and three force commanders retired. The council completed its first day deliberations. Gen. Necdet Ozel attended the meeting as the Acting Chief of General staff, whereas Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed Anitkabir Special Register and gave messages about the new era. Erdogan wrote, "our Armed Forces are taking significant steps in renewing its vision in line with requirements of the era."

Africa entered Ramadan being in need of a sip of water and slice of bread. Red Crescent, Religious Affairs Department and several other Turkish Associations launched a very big campaign to assist Africa. Eyes turned to oil reach Arab leaders who spend much money in Europe.
Chief of Turkish Red Crescent said, "we will extend helping hand of the Turkish people to Somalia."
TREACHEROUS ATTACK IN VAN
Gunfire was opened to military convoy in Gedikbasi region of Baskale town of eastern province of Van. Three soldiers died and four others were injured in the attack.
Baskale Sub-Governor Bilgihan Bayer and his guard who were behind the convoy were also injured.
