TURKEY REACTS TO SYRIAN GOVERNMENT'S CRACKDOWN IN HAMA
Turkey criticized the Syrian army's latest crackdown on protestors in Hama, saying violence could not be an option to solve the issue. "The military operations do not make even the smallest contribution to the settlement of the conflict. Violence do not bring solutions but more violence, which the Syrian government needs to understand," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
DAVUTOGLU TO ATTEND FUNERAL OF NORWAY SHOOTING VICTIM
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is set to attend on Monday the funeral ceremony of Gizem Dogan, a Turkish national who was among the 68 victims killed on Norway's Utoya island. Davutoglu and Turkish Deputy Premier Bekir Bozdag will attend the ceremony in Trondheim. The Turkish foreign minister will also meet his Norwegian counterpart Jonas Gahr Store in Oslo.

YAS TO CONVENE TODAY
Turkey's Supreme Military Council (YAS) will convene on Monday to shape the command echelon of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) after the chief of General Staff stepped down on Friday along with the commanders of the army, navy and air force. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will preside over the meeting, which convenes every August to discuss promotions and dismissals within the armed forces. YAS meeting will last for four days.

In accordance with the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) personnel law, promotions of military personnel who are currently detained will be suspended. Officials said that a decree law could be passed for retirement of them.

Thorbjorn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, said that leaders should stop using 'Islamic terrorism.' Jagland said that leaders would be "playing with fire" if they continued to use rhetoric that could be exploited by extremists.
