ANKARA (A.A) - August 18, 2011 - These are some of the major headlines and their summaries in Turkish press on August 18, 2011. The Anadolu Agency does not verify these stories and does not vouch for their accuracy.

IT SHOULD END 
Terrorism claimed 43,000 lives to terrorism in the past 30 years. This number is equal to population of three small countries in Europe.
7,000 people from security forces were martyred since 1984. Number of civilian killed is 5,669. Loss of PKK is 30,000. Terrorism not only hit lives but also the economy.
400 billion USD were wasted. A total of 100 straits could be built and eastern and southeastern Turkey could be re-constructed. The region could be a center of attraction.

500 MILLION USD FROM ISLAM COUNTRIES TO SOMALIA
Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened in Istanbul and listened to the screams of Somalia. Representatives from 40 countries convened under the leadership of Turkey. 500 million USD assistance collected for Somalia striving against famine. Turkey made the biggest donation which is 200 million USD.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who will travel to Somalia on Friday would himself deliver the assistance.

"OUR PATIENCE RUN OUT"
Terrorists exploded mines as a military convoy was passing in Cukurca town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. Eleven troops including a major were killed. A village guard lost his life in another blast in the region. President Abdullah Gul said that the terrorist organization which staged acts of terror in the holy month of Ramadan aimed at destroying people's loyalty to their state. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "our patience has finally run out. Words ended, now it is time for action."

HELP SOMALIA INSTEAD OF BOASTING WITH SKYSCRAPERS
The Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic cooperation (OIC) has convened in Istanbul at an extraordinary session on Somalia. Making opening remarks of the meeting, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on all countries to help Somalia instead of boasting with their skyscrapers and luxury automobiles.

YOU ARE THE MURDERER
While Turkey was grieving for 11 troops who were killed in an ambush in the southeastern province of Hakkari, it was the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) which glorified terrorism on every occasion. BDP, which tried anything to sabotage Turkey's brotherhood project and which declared a suicide bomber as 'martyr', became the accomplice of the massacres. BDP condemned the heinous attack with a meager statement. Between the lines of the statement, BDP used threatening expressions, "terrible days are awaiting Turkey."

AIR OPERATION ON HEART OF TERROR
The government has given an instant response to the PKK terrorist organization which claimed lives of eleven young Turkish troops in an ambush in the southeastern province of Hakkari. F-16 war planes took off from the southeastern province of Diyarbakir and shelled terror camps in northern Iraq.
