A FIRST IN POLITICS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and main opposition Republican Poeple's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu for the first time attended an inauguration together. Light rail suburban system was inaugurated in the western province of Izmir. Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu together cut the ribbon for opening of Aliaga-Menderes suburban railway line which connects Izmir's north to south with 32 stations. The two leaders shook hands, and then traveled together from Alsancak to Karsiyaka district.
THEY WERE ARRESTED!
Seven people including the journalists Nedim Sener, Ahmet Sik, Yalcin Kucuk and Dogan Yurdakul, who were detained within the scope of Ergenekon investigation, were arrested after nearly 20 hours of interrogation. Prof. Kucuk, one of the suspects who were sent to Metris Prison, was accused of being head of Ergenekon terrorist organization.

CHP'S KURDISH LANGUAGE MOVE
The Republican People's Party (CHP) will use education in mother tongue in its election campaign. The main opposition party will release its election statement by the end of March. The statement includes the expression that Kurdish language will be an elective course in schools upon directives of CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu.

Storm and snowfall are expected in Istanbul as of today. Schools may be recessed. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) is on alarm against the blizzard which is expected to be influential in Istanbul today. Snowfall will continue till Thursday.
Istanbul, which did not see snowfall during the winter, is getting prepared for snow and blizzard on the first days of March. AKOM's preparations are on the highest level.
TRABZONSPOR HUNT BESIKTAS
After left with 10 players and defeated 1-0, Trabzonspor beat Besiktas 2-1 in Super Toto Super League game yesterday, and continued to be on the top of the ranking. Serkan Balci of Trabzonspor left the game due to red card on minute 43, and then Sivok of Besiktas on minute 69.

PRIME MINISTER ERDOGAN SPEAKS IN IZMIR
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the opening of a suburban railway system in western province of Izmir that some circles tried to intimidate and threaten people before upcoming elections in Turkey. "A party has been trying to get votes of people in eastern and southeastern parts of the country by using their ethnic backgrounds. On the other hand, parties in western and southern parts of the country try to get votes of people by frightening them with terror and separation. This is nothing but opportunism," he said.
TENDER FOR THIRD BRIDGE
Tender process will begin on Tuesday for the Northern Marmara Highway Project which includes construction of a third bridge over the Istanbul Strait. Participating companies will be able to place their bids till August 23, 2011. The third bridge will include a highway and a railway. The project will be completed in five years.

Former parliamentarian Tahir Buyukkorukcu, a scholar on Islam and one of the spiritual leaders of central Anatolian province of Konya, was laid to rest in Ucler Cemetery in Konya yesterday. His funeral was carried by people for 2.5 hours.
