Turkey trains Afghan police on combat drug trafficking

ANKARA (A.A) - 28.01.2011 - Afghan police officers received training at Turkish International Academy Against Drugs and Organized Crimes (TADOC) on combat illicit drug trafficking.
26 policemen with Afghan Interior Ministry Department on Fight Against Illicit Drug Trafficking concluded their 3-week training at TADOC in Ankara.
TADOC Director Ismail Ozturk said Friday that Afghan policemen were given training on analysis of crime intelligence, investigation, and methods used to investigate organized crimes.
Ozturk said TADOC had carried out 34 different training programs so far with Afghan Police Organization and nearly 400 Afghan police officers had received training.
The Academy functions as a regional resource center and consultation forum for drug and organized crime related issues. So far, more than 1600 law enforcement personnel from UN, ECO and 57 countries from Central Asia, the Black Sea region, the Balkans, the Caucasus and Africa have received training at TADOC. In addition, TADOC organizes seminars and training programs on matters related to illicit drugs and crimes, in cooperation with the United States, Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Canada.
