Turkey's first anchorwoman dies at age of 82
ANKARA (A.A) - 15.03.2011 - Julide Gulizar, one of Turkey's very first news readers, passed away in capital Ankara on Monday.
Gulizar was also an anchorperson at Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), an author and instructor.
She was diagnosed pneumonia and under treatment in Ankara's Hacettepe University Medical Faculty.
Gulizar was an example to next generations as she spoke and wrote in Turkish language properly and fluently.
Gulizar was born in southern province of Adana in 1929. She graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1956 but started to work at Ankara Radio the same year. She started to appear on TRT as news reader in 1968.
She worked for TRT for 30 years and retired in 1982. Later she worked as author, journalist and instructor in several news agencies and broadcasting institutions. Gulizar gave lecture in Baskent University Faculty of Communication and hosted programs on private Channel B.
Gulizar who wrote a number of books was also winner of many awards.
