Turkish FM says his country will continue to help Syrian people

ROTTERDAM (A.A) - Turkish foreign minister has pledged continued support for Syrians fleeing a violent crackdown on opposition movement Syria.
"Tens of thousands of people want to leave their country. Turkey has given shelter for some 11 thousand Syrian refugees so far. We are doing our best to help these people and we will continue to extend help to our neighbors," Ahmet Davutoglu told a joint press conference with his Dutch counterpart Uri Rosenthal after participating Tuesday in the fifth edition of the Turkey-Netherlands Wittenburg Conference in Rotterdam that marks the 400th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Davutoglu underlined the importance of international cooperation on the Syrian question, saying that his Dutch counterpart had vowed that the Netherlands would fulfill its part.
Rosenthal on his part said his country appreciated Turkey's initiatives to end violence in Syria, adding that the Netherlands supported international humanitarian initiatives.
Rosenthal praised achievements Turkey had made in its economy in recent years, adding that economic relations between the two countries were developing.
After concluding his talks in the Netherlands Davutoglu proceeded to Nakhchivan for a meeting with his Iranian and Azeri counterparts Wednesday.
