-TURKISH PRESS REVIEW
ANKARA (A.A) - September 7, 2011 - Turkish dailies mostly covered in their Wednesday issues Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's comments on Israel, Turkish national football team's game against Austria in Vienna on Tuesday night and remarks made by the Chief of the Turkish Court of Appeals, Nazim Kaynak, on the first day of the new Judicial Year.
Hurriyet daily wrote that Premier Erdogan said a "C Plan" was underway against Israel. Yeni Safak daily quoted Erdogan as saying "Israel plays the role of a spoiled child. Turkey will apply more sanctions on Israel and boost presence in Eastern Mediterranean". Turkiye daily wrote that Erdogan said the United Nations with its decisions always made Israel act like a spoiled child.
Commenting on the Turkish national football team's game against Austria in Vienna on Tuesday night, Sabah daily said that Turkey's angel of luck left the team alone as Arda Turan missed a penalty kick in the last minute of the game. The game was part of the Euro 2012 qualifications. Milliyet daily wrote that Turkey's game against Austria did not end happily as the team tied 0-0 in Vienna.
Dailies also drew attention to the remarks made by the Chief of the Turkish Court of Appeals, Nazim Kaynak, on the first day of the new Judicial Year. Vatan daily wrote that Kaynak said the real problem in the Turkish legal system was not long periods of detention but rather the inability to end cases in acceptable periods of time. Hurriyet daily quoted Kaynak as saying "while we had 5.5 minutes to look at a file in 2000, this period dropped to 2 minutes in 2010".
