Two Killed, Nine Injured In Two Separate Terror Attacks In Southern Thailand
SUNGAI GOLOK (Thailand), Sept 30 (Bernama) -- Two separate shooting and bomb blast incidents occurred in southern Thailand on Thursday, killing two persons and injuring nine others.
The first incident occurred in Lubuk Lesung, Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, at 11am (local time) when three security force personnel who were on duty in front of a school were shot at by 10 armed men riding five motorcycles, resulting in one of the victims killed and two others injured.
Sungai Golok district officer Preecha Nualnoi said the attackers also fled with three AK-47 assault rifles belonging to the security force personnel, adding that about 60 bullet shells were found by the investigation team at the scene.
In the second incident, a staff of a petrol station in Pattani was killed, after a 20kg handmade bomb exploded at the station.
It was believed to have been planted by four unidentified men, said Khokpo district police assistant chief, Capt Kiartichai Nakre.
He said the bomb attack around 1pm (local time) caused a huge fire at the petrol station, where the local firemen took 20 minutes to put out the fire.
He added that seven members of the security force who were at that time investigating a shooting incident closeby, were also injured in the bomb blast.
