Two minor tremors jolt Thai North
BANGKOK, April 28 (TNA) - Two mild earthquakes hit Chiang Mai Province in the Thai North on early Monday morning, but there were no reports of casualties or damage.
Thailand's Office of Mineral Resources Region 1 in Lampang Province, which oversees 17 northern areas, reported that the first tremor, measuring 1.4 on the Richter scale, occurred at 1:14am, Thailand's time, with its epicentre located in the Pa Phai locality of San Sai District, while the second tremor, measuring 1.1 on the Richter scale, occurred at 2:08am, with its epicentre located in the Pa Pong locality of Doi Saket District.
Both quakes did not take place in communities or villages, causing local people to be, thus, unaware of them and there were no reports of casualties or damage.
Authorities said the two mild quakes were caused by movements of the Mae Ta fault line, down to Lamphun Province through Chiang Mai's San Sai and Doi Saket Districts.
According to the authorities, there have been four movements of the Mae Ta fault line in April 2014 alone. (TNA)
