UK House of Commons’ Foreign Affairs Committee hosts Bahraini Ambassador

Manama, Nov. 27 (BNA): The Foreign Affairs Committee of the British House of Commons yesterday hosted the Ambassador of Bahrain to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, upon an invitation from the Chairman of the Committee, MP Tom Tugendhat, in the presence of the representatives of the Committee members. At the beginning of the virtual meeting, the members of the committee offered their sincere condolences to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the demise of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. The committee members also conveyed their condolences to all Bahraini people on the passing of HRH Prince Khalifa. The meeting reviewed the most important international and regional issues of common interest between the two countries. The Ambassador highlighted the historical relations between Bahrain and the UK, underlining the importance of developing them at all levels during the coming period, by increasing trade exchange and direct investment. He also stressed that there is a great opportunity to develop and improve relations at the commercial, tourism, educational, medical levels and many other crucial areas. In his speech before the committee, the ambassador stressed the depth of the distinguished relations between both countries, which were built on mutual visions on a large number of important issues regionally and internationally. He also noted the importance of cooperation, partnership and alliance between Bahrain and the UK, being among the pillars of ensuring security and stability in the region to face various security challenges, especially terrorism. The Chairman of the Committee, MP Tom Tugendhat, expressed his pride in the good relations with Bahrain on a personal level. He also thanked the Ambassador of Bahrain for accepting the invitation and attending the meeting with the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee because of its importance in explaining Bahrain's viewpoint on a number of regional and international issues, which enhances communication between both countries.
