UN Secretary-General Applauds Qatar's Contribution to Support Gaza Families

New York, September 01 (QNA) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his appreciation to the State of Qatar for its generous contributions to support poor and vulnerable families in Gaza Strip. Qatar Committee for Reconstruction of Gaza signed a memorandum of understanding with UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland on August 19. Under the MoU, the State of Qatar pledged to allocate $40 million to support nearly 100 thousand families in Gaza. Office of the official spokesperson for the UN said Wednesday that the Secretary-General would like to express his appreciation to the State of Qatar for its generous contribution which will help improve the dire social and economic situation in Gaza. He underlined that the United Nations will continue to work closely with the Palestinian Authority and partners to support reconstruction efforts in Gaza. (QNA)
