Undersecretary chairs committee meeting

Manama, Nov.25 (BNA): The National Committee for following up Bahrain's commitment to all UN Security Council resolutions held its first meeting at the Foreign Ministry. Undersecretary for International Affairs Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa chaired the session, in the presence of committee members representing ministries and government bodies. The Undersecretary reviewed the tasks of the National Committee, as stipulated in Article 4 of its resolution, particularly coordination of government policies and efforts to implement of the UN Security Council resolutions and the submission of periodic reports pursuant to the resolutions of the Council, in addition to following up the visits of the official delegations and the United Nations expert teams to Bahrain on this matter and responding to queries received. He also affirmed the importance of following-up to the decisions of the UN Security Council on combating terrorism and coordinating with the relevant authorities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and other competent authorities. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, has maintained its firm approach in strengthening cooperation and partnerships with the United Nations in all its organs and bodies, especially the Security Council, in light of the vital and responsible role of the international community in reaching a more stable and prosperous world by establishing international peace and security. "Following up on Bahrain's international obligations reflects the global position of the Kingdom of Bahrain in fulfilling its obligations and respecting the resolutions of international legitimacy", he said, adding that Bahrain is at the forefront of the world's countries in firmly and effectively combatting terrorism. It is worth noting that the National Committee to follow up on the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to all UN Security Council’s resolutions, in response to the Foreign Ministry edict, the Cabinet added new tasks to the National Committee to include all topics related to the fight against terrorism, coordinate with the relevant authorities in Bahrain to implement them.
