Undersecretary holds video call with Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister

Manama, July 22 (BNA): Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, held a meeting today, through video conference, with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkmenistan, Berdiniyaz Matiyev.
During the meeting, the two sides hailed distinct relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Turkmenistan and its development in all areas.
He stressed the keenness of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of the Republic of Turkmenistan to support all means aimed at strengthening friendly relations and joint cooperation.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla noted the recent positive development of relations between the two countries, including the video conference held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Raşit Meredow.
He pointed out the second meeting of the committee to follow up the implementation of bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the governments of the two countries, which stresses the mutual desire to further bilateral relations.
He said that the second round of political consultations between the two countries’ Foreign Ministries, which was held in July 2019, formed an important step in developing relations in all areas.
He said that he looks forward to the third round of those consultations happening in Bahrain soon, emphasizing that the two countries have the vision and capabilities to consolidate a close and lasting strategic partnership, as a common asset for friendship, cooperation and prosperity.
In this context, the two sides expressed that they are looking forward to the first meeting of the Committee for Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation between the two countries, set to be held next year in Ashgabat, as a promising mechanism for investing in common opportunities.
The two sides also exchanged viewpoints on issues of common concern and ways to promote relations between the two friendly countries during the meeting.
