UNGA President Concludes Visit to Egypt

Cairo, February 22 (QNA) - President of the UN General Assembly, HE Nassir bin Abdulaziz Al Nasser concluded on Wednesday a four-day official visit to Cairo for talks with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amrou and the Arab League Secretary-General, Dr. Nabil Al Araby. Talks with the Egyptian Foreign Minister dealt with the latest developments in Syria, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Palestine following the recent agreement between Hamas and Fatah signed at Doha, HE Al Nasser told Qatar news agency (QNA). During the visit, HE Al Nasser has briefed the Egyptian Foreign Minister on UN General Assembly's high-level meetings scheduled to be held in May on "the global economic situation" and "the mediation to resolve disputes by peaceful means" in addition a panel discussion on the Alliance of Civilizations on 22 March. UNGA President also held talks with the Arab League Secretary-General on a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, during which he updated his interlocutor on the meeting due to be organized by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) on the human rights violations by the Syrian authorities on February, 27. Concluding, HE Al Nasser expressed hope that the UN Security Council would agree on a resolution aimed at stopping ongoing violence in Syria. (QNA)
