University of Manchester honours Adeeb, Dana Al Balushi for remarkable scientific excellence

MANCHESTER, 5th April, 2017 (WAM) -- University of Manchester, the United Kingdom, UK, has honoured the Emirati Adeeb Al Balushi, and his sister Dana Al Baloushi for their scientific achievements in medical science and space science. The honouring ceremony took place at the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester, with the attendance of James Baker, Business Director of the University of Manchester; Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan, Research Specialist on Nano Technology at the university; Dennis Cortez, University Management, and Paul Fontaine, Chief Designer of Technology Projects. Baker awarded the certificates on behalf of renowned scientist and winner of the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010, Professor Sir Kostya Novoselov, who discovered the first Graphene substance, to Adeeb Al Balushi and Dana Al Balushi. Adeeb conducted unique scientific research using the graphene substance in his latest medical humanitarian invention, a special device for elderly people praying in mosques and those with special medical needs. His younger sister, Dana, conducted her research by using graphene in certain parts of astronaut suits, which was discussed by Dr. Vijayaraghavan. Adeeb and Dana are the first and youngest students to discuss scientific research on full-scale projects at the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester, impressing the institute’s management for their considerable research, logic and scientific qualities. Sulaiman Hamid Al Mazrouei, UAE Ambassador to the UK, received, at the embassy’s headquarters in London, Adeeb and Dana, the youngest trainee in the Space Administration Programmes of NASA, while viewing the honouring certificates that they were awarded. He expressed his satisfaction at their accomplishments and encouraged them to pursue their scientific interests.
