Upper Thai South on alert against HFMD

BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) - Public health officials in Pranburi district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the Upper Thai South are now on high alert to contain outbreaks of the hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) among children. Siripan Kleebjan, chief of Pranburi's public Health office, told reporters on Wednesday that two children in Pranburi’s Wang Pong sub-district were confirmed to have contracted the communicable HFMD. Siripan said that the director of Chawengsak Suksa School in Pranburi, where the two young children study, has, therefore, announced a seven-day closure of the school, starting from July 1, to prevent more outbreaks of the HFMD among its nearly 70 kindergarten pupils. According to the senior official, the school's personnel are, in the meantime, launching a big clean-up at the school's buildings and compound, as well as teaching and learning equipment to stop the spreading of the HFMD.
